To Properly Commemorate....

I should have done this earlier because getting my first ace (a hole in one) was something I see at night in my dreams. Something I've wanted for a long time. It HAPPENED!

It was a beautiful afternoon at Santa Cruz's newest disc golf course, Bridge to Bridge. This, flat, linear 9-hole course runs along the edge of the San Lorenzo River. It's a short pitch and putt styled course meant for beginners, families and golfers who want to work on their game. 

The course is next to the County building and an odd thing happened. As I was playing hole one, a family of a dozen were walking toward the river. Turns out they were having an impromptu wedding ceremony. I stopped throwing because with my aim and luck I could have hit the bride! After 10 or so minutes it was safe to resume my round and that's exactly when it happened. A beautiful, solid, real ACE!!

I think maybe there was just some good energy left over from the ceremony. But then again, I was due. I wanted to go to the couple, thank them and let them know how lucky they are...but they probably know that already.  

Frankenfinger

I'm pumped up for Fantasy Football! I've been in two leagues for 7+ years now with my friends and family. It's among my most frivilous, nerdy and wasteful passions AND I LOVE IT!

This year in Ricos my team name is Frankenfinger (named after my blown out ring finger that exploded  when I took a line drive to it earlier this season....it's still pretty ugly and spectacular months later and deserves some kind of honor.)

I've prepared for the upcoming draft as if it were the Normandy Invasion; participating in mock drafts, selecting my top 50 players, following daily progress reports and listening to associated podcasts.

Next year my wife says that me and my friends should put this energy into curing cancer.

She's pretty right!

Coyotes-12 Vs. Beer Sluggers-11

Rarely can a team pin a loss on the performance of one. But in the Summer B-League Championship it was quite easy to stick it on me.

1 for 4, 1 run, 1RBI

2 errors that accounted for at least 4 runs (I lost track)

2 popfly missed fouls that could have been big outs

I blew it! It was all on me!! Thank heavens a new season starts soon because I need to wash the stink off.

Beer Sluggers 9 vs. Outlaws 8

This time we had a (real) pitcher....although we were short an outfielder!

The beloved Beer Sluggers eeeked into the B-league summer playoffs (somehow, someway) and beat a heavily favorited Outlaw squad that absolutely massacred us earlier this season.

No way we should have won tonight, but we did!  Because of that we will face off against the Coyotes next Tuesday at 6PM for the B-League Championship.

Gitchur' popcorn ready!!!! Next week is a title shot.
